As a result of this partnership, Vodafone clients with accounts opened at Millennium Bank can pay their Vodafone invoices also by direct debit

Vodafone Romania and RBS Romania announce their partnership for offering inter-bank direct debit for the payment of mobile phone invoices.

As a result of this partnership, RBS Romania will intermediate the communication process with the banks Vodafone does not have bilateral agreements with, in order to facilitate direct debit transactions for the payment of the Vodafone invoices.

In an initial stage, the service will be available for the Millennium Bank current account holders, who will have the additional possibility to settle their Vodafone invoices through direct debit.

The Vodafone clients will be able to activate the new direct debit service by signing a mandate authorizing Millennium Bank to transfer the value of the monthly bill from their Millennium Bank account to the Vodafone’s RBS account. Currently, the direct debit mandate can be filled in at the Millennium Bank branches, as well as in the Vodafone stores. The service does not mean additional costs for the Vodafone clients. Once the service is activated, the monthly payments for the Vodafone bills will be done automatically, with no further instructions from the client.

“Direct debit is an increasingly popular method of paying the Vodafone bills among our clients. Through the agreement signed with RBS Romania, we want to offer the possibility of using the direct debit service to as many clients as possible, regardless of the bank where they have their current accounts. In a first stage, we are happy to offer this payment method to our Millennium Bank account holders and we hope to expand our collaboration to other banks as well”, declared Karsten Wildberger, Chief Commercial Officer, Consumer Business Unit, Vodafone Romania.

“RBS was one of the first banks in Romania to offer intra and inter-bank direct debit transactions, being a promoter of electronic payments and especially direct debit. The collaboration with Millennium Bank represents a first step in a larger project initiated with Vodafone, with the purpose of encouraging inter-bank direct debit payments on the Romanian market”, said Mircea Spinei, Head of Global Transaction Services, RBS Romania.

“This opportunity offered by Millennium Bank represents a new result of our continuing efforts to provide more flexibility for our clients in clearing utilities bills. We will expand this type of partnership with other service providers”, stated Ecaterina Ristea, Corporate Product Development Director, Millennium Bank.

Direct debit is an efficient and very practical method for the end-users who are not obliged to go to the bank or to the cashier’s office in order to pay their bills. In addition to the time saved, users have the certainty that invoices are paid monthly from the funds available in their accounts, thus avoiding delays in payments and possible penalties.
