Numismatic issue - a silver coin dedicated to “The 125th Birth Anniversary of Nicolae Tonitza”

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 concerning the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 22 August 2011, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to “The 125th Birth Anniversary of Nicolae Tonitza”.

The silver coin has the following characteristics:

* Face value: leu 10
* Metal: silver
* Fineness: 999‰
* Shape: round
* Diameter: 37 mm
* Weight: 31.103 g
* Quality: proof
* Edge: milled.

Obverse: images of several paintings by Nicolae Tonitza, the face value “10 LEI”, the inscription “ROMANIA”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2011”.

Reverse: Nicolae Tonitza’s portrait and signature, images of some of his works and his birth and death years “1886-1940”.

Each silver coin is housed in a transparent plastic capsule and is accompanied by a leaflet featuring an overview of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.

The leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Head Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The numismatic issue comprises 500 coins.

The selling price of the silver coin, leaflet included, is leu 360.00, excluding VAT.

The collector silver coins dedicated to “The 125th Birth Anniversary of Nicolae Tonitza” are legal tender on the territory of Romania and will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj, Iaşi and Timiş.
