NBR issues a gold coin – in the “History of Gold” series

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 concerning the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 7 February 2011, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin – in the “History of Gold” series – dedicated to the buckle discovered at Curtea de Argeş.

The gold coin has the following characteristics:
• face value: lei 10;
• metal: gold;
• fineness: 999‰;
• shape: round;
• diameter: 13.92 mm;
• weight: 1.224 g;
• quality: proof;
• edge: milled.

Obverse: the Princely Church in Curtea de Argeş where the buckle was discovered; the face value of the coin “10 LEI” and Romania’s coat of arms; below, the year of issue “2011” and “ROMANIA” inscribed in an arc.

Reverse: in the middle, a reproduction of the buckle; on the rim, the inscription “PAFTAUA DE LA CURTEA DE ARGES”.

The gold coin, housed in a transparent plastic case, will be accompanied by a leaflet featuring an overview of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. The leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
This numismatic issue includes 500 coins.
The selling price of the collector gold coin on the “History of Gold – the buckle discovered at Curtea de Argeş” is leu 390.00, excluding VAT.

The gold coins on the “History of Gold – the buckle discovered at Curtea de Argeş” are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The collector gold coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
