Loans granted by Romanian credit institutions increased by 0.7 percent in August

At end-August 2015, non-government loans granted by Romanian credit institutions increased by 0.7 percent (1.2 percent in real terms) from July 2015 to RON 213,878.8 million, said National Bank of Romania in a statement.


RON-denominated loans climbed by 2.0 percent (2.5 percent in real terms), whereas foreign currency-denominated loans fell by 0.5 percent when expressed in RON and by 1.0 percent when expressed in EUR. At end-August 2015, non-government loans edged up 0.2 percent (2.1 percent in real terms) year on year, on the back of the 15.0 percent increase in RON-denominated loans (17.2 percent in real terms) and the 10.9 percent decline in foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON (when expressed in EUR, forex loans dropped 11.3 percent).


Government credit stood 1.3 percent higher in August 2015 at RON 86,645.4 million At end- August 2015, government credit increased by 7.7 percent (9.7 percent in real terms) from the same year-ago period.
